L.I.F.E. (Low-Income Fare is Easy)

The L.I.F.E. (Low-Income Fare is Easy) program provides transportation assistance to low-income individuals in Los Angeles County. Qualifying riders can save money on monthly bus passes from AVTA and other participating transit operators with L.I.F.E. benefits. All benefits will be loaded directly onto your TAP card (Starting July 1, 2019, L.I.F.E. benefits will no longer be distributed as paper coupons). Full fare passengers may qualify for a discounted and free bus passes. Children over five years old whose parents qualify are automatically eligible for the L.I.F.E. Program. Applicants for the program are able to apply online and often can receive promotional free rides just for signing-up. Program eligibility is good for one year and may be renewed annually.
You qualify for the L.I.F.E. Program if you are currently enrolled in:
- CalFresh
- EBT
- Medi-Cal
- A reduced lunch program
- SNAP
- Social Security
- Social Security Disability
- TANF
Or, you qualify if you live in LA County and your household income falls within these limits:
- $48,550 or less for a household of one (1)
- $55,450 or less for a household of two (2)
- $62,400 or less for a household of three (3)
- $69,350 or less for a household of four (4)
- $74,900 or less for a household of five (5)
- $80,450 or less for a household of six (6)
- $86,000 or less for a household of six (7)
- $91,550 or less for a household of six (8)
