How to Schedule Travel Training

Schedule Travel Training

  • Do you or your organization help people travel within the Antelope Valley?
  • Do you or your organization’s members/clients use Dial-A-Ride?
  • Do you or your organization’s members/clients walk or bicycle to get where you need to go?
  • Do you or your organization’s members/clients rely on public transportation or others for your travel needs?
  • Do you or your organization’s members/clients ever miss appointments because you don’t have a ride?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, we want to hear from you! The Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) Mobility Management Project is a planning effort to identify and address transportation needs within the Antelope Valley. With everyone’s help, we can develop mobility strategies that best suit the needs of Antelope Valley residents.

Purpose

At its core, Mobility Management is simple: Transportation providers, social service agencies, and healthcare providers work cooperatively to ensure essential/life-line transportation is available to a community’s most vulnerable populations. The focus is on coordination, cooperation, and education versus simply introducing new – often unsustainable – services.

Project Goals :

  • Identify gaps in regional communication.
  • Identify gaps in regional coordination of transportation.
  • Quantify mobility needs throughout the region.
  • Coordinate the most effective and efficient use of available resources, regardless of source classification (i.e., private, public, non-profit).

Client/Member Benefits

Your clients/members will benefit from strategies developed as part of the mobility management project, which may include taxi vouchers, a volunteer driver program, a one-stop call center, mobility training, and transportation coordination among public and non-profit agencies.

Organizational/Partner Benefits
AVTA, as the project sponsor, is committed to taking the lead for this important project. But it can’t do it alone. Project partners are essential for an effort such as this to succeed. In addition to enhancing the quality of life for your clients/members, your organization will benefit as well. By sharing resources across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, you may be able to realize cost efficiencies and program improvements through:

  • Shared maintenance, insurance, and driver training programs;
  • One-call information center;
  • Streamlined communication practices;
  • Coordinated marketing; and
  • Assistance in identifying and applying for additional funding sources/grants.

Learn More

There are many public, private, and commuter transportation services traveling within, into, and out of the Antelope Valley. Effective public transportation provides access to jobs, shopping, healthcare, schools, and other essential services while promoting economic growth, reducing traffic and parking congestion, and improving air quality. AVTA’s Mobility Management Plan will look at all transportation services in the Valley so as to identify gaps between current transportation services and what is really needed, quantify the mobility needs throughout the Valley, and improve coordination among transportation providers. Even if you don’t use public transportation, it is easy to see how an effective transportation program positively impacts the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
